I am slowly filling in

All the things I thought were lacking
somehow appear without strife,

I've got the apartment I can mostly afford,
a new DVD player for when I get bored,
and my friends can be found in a great loving horde--
but where are you?

How is it that I've been eating semi-solid food for about 30 years and never knew real oatmeal was so good?

I'm not talking about the usual instant mush here -- these were real steel-cut Irish oats, boiled in water & milk for about half an hour and then mixed with honey and spices.

Tasty, satisfying, and I just plain feel good.

What's in these things?

Like many folks, I posted to usenet a lot when I was younger and stupider...but sometimes I come across people who still remember and respect me for the few smart or funny things I said.

Last weekend I got inpsired and started posting stuff on swinney -- stuff I want people to read and think about and comment on and maybe even remember. I don't think I'll ever do the standard "this is a story about my cat" style blog, though, both because I blather enough on mailing lists as it is and because I don't have a cat.

If I did have a cat, though, maybe I'd blog about it. Hmm.
