I haven't read an issue of PC Week in months, so I can't comment
there. However, I find it disheartening to see supposedly serious
computer magazines throwing around phrases like "as unintelligable as
Unix" only a few pages away from telling you how & when to edit your DOS
config.sys file.
I have not yet found a single person who has switched from DOS to
Unix and regretted the move after their first few weeks. The only reason
I can comprehend that somebody would be scared of a csh prompt is if
they're scared of /all/ command lines. (In a favorite newsgroup of mine
which shall go nameless because we'd prefer to stay hidden, those are
usually referred to as the "click-and-drool" type.)
